news / New York Giants: Why Odell Beckham Jr. Will Have His Best Year in 2017

New York Giants' wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is regarded as one of the top receivers in the NFL. Can he get even better in 2017?

New York Giants prized possession Odell Beckham Jr. is known as one of the most explosive players in the NFL.

Since his inaugural season in 2014, Beckham Jr. has racked up a staggering 4,122 yards and 35 touchdowns, according to In each of his three seasons in the NFL, OBJ has had double digit touchdowns and more than 1,000 yards receiving.

Overall, his stats are off the wall, and in 2017 he is going to beat all of his personal records, here's why.

The additions of Brandon Marshall, Rhett Ellison and Evan Engram have significant value in the passing game, and for Beckham Jr., there will be a whole lot more room to work with.

Brandon Marshall, standing at 6'4" is regarded as one of the most physical receivers in the NFL. His off-the-ball movement and blocking ability makes him a dual threat in the passing and running game.

On the New York Jets, Marshall was considered their number one receiver, and he surely acted like one. He is only one-year removed from a 1,500 yard, 14 touchdown campaign.

Adding a weapon like Marshall to Eli Manning's arsenal will not only open up the field, but it will give Odell Beckham Jr. more one-on-one opportunities.

The drafting of Evan Engram promotes a more versatile and pass-happy offensive scheme. Engram is more-or-less a glorified wide receiver, so his ability to expose the middle of the field with speed will keep safeties second-guessing.

Eli Manning now has all of the weapons he needs to have his best statistical season yet, but with Jerry Reese neglecting to address the offensive line through the draft, he might not be able to get the ball off in time.

Luckily, Reese signed former Minnesota Vikings tight end Rhett Ellison.
Ellison is a blocking specialist and will provide support when edge rushers are consistently battering the offensive tackles.

Reese must be very confident in Ereck Flowers considering his poor performance in 2016. Despite his injury problems, Flowers is only 22 years old and has plenty of time to bounce back.

If he can revive his college form, the Giants will be in for a magical season.
And Odell Beckham Jr. will be reaping the rewards.
