blog / 11.08.2016 Big Play Day
I’m proud of what our guys were able to do Sunday against the Eagles. Any win feels great, but it is those wins against a division rival that take on a little more meaning. Sunday was one of those games where our playmakers were locked in through all three phases of the game. Offense, defense and special teams all made big plays and we started to feed off that early in the game.
Eli was on fire against Philly. He made quick, accurate throws against the Eagles blitz all game long. He was money on both of my scores. In the first quarter he found me on a quick slant against the blitz and I was able to take it in for the score. My second TD was a perfect fade that he put up and just let me make a play on that jump ball. Eli is one of the best QBs in the NFL and Sunday was a reminder of some of the reasons why.
Our defense played lights out against Philly. Forcing two picks and two fourth down stops were the big plays that changed the course of this game. Even with JPP blocking a field goal, our special teams was a huge part of us being able to grab onto this win.
We enjoyed that win for a little while but now we turn our attention to next Monday night and our game with the Bengals. I’m looking forward to being on the field with AJ Green this week. He truly is one of the best wide receivers in our game and I can’t wait to watch him up close. Their offense is built to light up the scoreboard and that begins and ends with AJ.
Our attention on offense is focused on the Cincy defense. Their defense is anchored by their talented defensive line. Especially with Carlos Dunlap coming off the edge and Geno Atkins generated pass rush in the middle - the are built to disrupt offenses. Adam Jones and Dre Kirkpatrick head up a CB group that will provide a good matchup for our wideouts.
We’re pumped for Cincy on Monday!! We’re are looking to build on this momentum that we have rolling. See you guys in prime time at the Met!
